MISSION

The Via Francigena Basketball Camp was founded in 2017 thanks to the will of Valtarese Basket, a historic basketball team from Borgo Val di Taro (PR), one of the most ancient squad in Italy. The purpose of Valtarese Basket  and its President, Mirco Delnevo, was  to enhance the Val di Taro territory through a summer sport training project. The project was entrusted to the two Valtarese coaches, Maurizio Scanzani and Davide De Martino and from this purpose started the idea of ​​the Camp, which is realized in the synergy with the Pol. Libertas Calendasco of Coach Claudio Massari. The "Via Francigena del Basket" project was born from a suggestion of Coach Massari, to create a sporting and cultural bridge that retraces the ancient paths of pilgrims who passed through the Apennines to reach Rome and the ports from which to leave for the Holy Land. Hence the name of the Camp and the vocation of combining the technical path with the discovery of the territory.
